Alabama Driver Rick Crawford Moves Up In NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Points Standings
TALLADEGA, Ala. - Race fans in Alabama may get to see a native son leading one of NASCAR’s premier series at Talladega Superspeedway, when the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series returns for the Mountain Dew 250 on October 4th. Mobile, Ala. native Rick Crawford moved from 6th-place in the points standings to 5th, after an 11th-place finish last weekend in Michigan. Crawford was leading the series only two weeks ago, when a 21st-place finish at Texas knocked him back to 6th in the standings. The 11th-place finish at Michigan was a much needed step in the right direction, as he now trails series’ leader Johnny Benson, by only 61 points. “It’s hard not to get a bit nostalgic when you think about a racer from Alabama trying to win one of NASCAR’s premier divisions,” said Talladega Superspeedway President Rick Humphrey. “From Bobby and Donnie Allison to Red Farmer, Alabama has a history of producing championship contenders. A strong run in the Mountain Dew 250, in front of his home crowd, could certainly boost Rick’s chances for a title.” Rick Crawford and the rest of the stars of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will return to Talladega Superspeedway Oct. 4th for the Mountain Dew 250. The Mountain Dew 250 is 250 miles of the 1,000 miles of racing featured during the Oct. 3-5 AMP Energy 500 event weekend.
